The  T a y l o r  Family

Serving the H m o n g  people in Asia

The T a y l o r s  (names & exact location withheld for security reasons) have been working with the Hmong people of Asia for over two decades. B. T a y l o r  is American and Mrs. T a y l o r  is  H m o n g.

The H m o n g are a minority people group of 85 distinct dialects who live in Southeast Asia and China, as well as the U.S.A., France, Australia and South America. Divided by politics and war, the H m o n g have succeeded in being dispersed throughout the world, with the largest concentration still being in Asia. Living by self-reliance and independence, worshiping the spirits of their ancestors and placating evil spirits, they try to survive in a constantly, rapidly changing world. Although they are animistic, their folk tales have great resemblance to the Old Testament. At present the White & Blue H m o n g  have a complete translation of the Bible. The H m o n g  B o u a with whom the T a y l o r s  are working with have no Bible translation.

B. T a y l o r  worked in full-time Christian ministry in Texas for four years prior to going to Asia in 1986. Mr. & Mrs. T a y l o r were married in 1987 and now have four children. All but one of their children were born in Asia.

The primary work of B. & Mrs. T a y l o r  is mentoring H m o n g
B o u a  leaders in two countries and producing daily radio broadcasts in the H m o n g  B o u a  dialect. It is the goal of the
T a y l o r s to help start movement of churches planting churches among the 400,000 - 500,000 H m o n g  B o u a  of China, Vietnam and Laos. They are approaching it in a threefold strategy:

1. Mentoring and training of leaders in 21 H m o n g  B o u a
churches to reproduce themselves in others by discipleship.
2. Daily evangelistic short wave radio broadcasts in the
     H m o n g   B o u a  dialect.
3. Taking risks to see a return for the Kingdom of God.
